Virginia Woolf’s “The Death of the Moth”

The moth is very lively, fluttering its delicate wings “happily” especially when in the company of another moth, as I have observed once a long time ago. But, inspite of its liveliness, the moth, just like another living thing, experiences death.

Virginia Woolf depicts the moth as a representation of human life. Every human being dies. Death is very powerful, it comes anytime. Even the most powerful, the richest, the strongest person experiences death; nobody escapes it.

For us Christians, death is not the end, but the beginning; the beginning of eternal life in Heaven where there are no hardships, no pain, no problems, no sorrow.

We are just travelers in this world, everyday is a new day and each day must be treated as if it were the last, for we don’t know exactly when death will come for each one of us. --ARVillanueva
